Paris Haute Couture Week: A Star-Studded Extravaganza
The fashion world's most prestigious event, Paris Haute Couture Week, is a spectacle of opulence, creativity, and celebrity. This year, the event was a star-studded affair, with a who's who of the fashion industry and Hollywood elite gracing the front rows.
The four-day extravaganza showcases the pinnacle of haute couture, featuring custom-fitted, hand-crafted designs from an exclusive selection of 13 fashion houses. It's a celebration of the art of fashion, where creativity knows no bounds.
Among the highlights of the week were the debut collections from Chanel and Dior's new head designers, Matthieu Blazy and Jonathan Anderson, respectively. Blazy's show at the Grand Palais was a whimsical wonderland, with pink weeping willows and oversized toadstools adorning the runway. His collection, inspired by birds, featured feathers as a recurring theme, blending classic Chanel signatures with fresh fabrics and treatments.
Anderson's Dior show was a nature-inspired spectacle, with floaty silhouettes and a focus on flowers. The Spring Summer 2026 collection was presented under a canopy of flowers on a mirrored runway, showcasing a monochrome palette with bursts of orange, ice blue, and pink. Anderson's designs, like his previous work at Loewe, are known for their unique and bold approach.
Another standout collection was from Valentino, presented by Alessandro Michele just days after the passing of the legendary designer Valentino Garavani. The high-concept collection featured a batwing gown in a shade of red reminiscent of Valentino's first collection, over 60 years ago. The show was a kaleidoscope of lace, feathers, and embellishments, with models dressed like showgirls.
Armani Privé, led by Silvana, niece of the late Giorgio Armani, unveiled its first haute couture collection since the designer's passing. The collection showcased a pastel mint green and baby pink palette, with bejewelled satin trouser suits and sparkling evening gowns, maintaining the brand's classic elegance with a touch of originality.
Elie Saab, a Lebanese designer, paid homage to his roots with a couture show titled 'Golden Summer Nights of '71'. The collection featured a Middle Eastern color palette of blush pinks, bronzes, and desert tones, with excessive beading, ball gowns, and metallic fabrics dominating the catwalk.
The week was also marked by the presence of celebrities like Victoria and David Beckham, who were awarded a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters on the first day of the event. They were joined by their children, except for Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, who was not in attendance due to a public falling out with his family. Anna Wintour, the global editorial director of Vogue, attended the ceremony and was seen on the front row at several shows, alongside other celebrities like Tilda Swinton, Nicole Kidman, and designer John Galliano.
